Last night I got a phone call from my sister, the adorable cat she took in had FLEAS! Poor girl couldn't get rid of them for anything.
I thought back to some of my home "Cheapie" recipies and came up with the following.
1) Salt... sprinkle salt on the carpeting and any furniture that you will be able to vacuum. Leave the salt overnight. This dries out the flea eggs and keeps them from hatching.
2) Put a plate of water under a night light. This one sounds pretty strange but it works. Fill a plate with a small amount of water and add one drop of dish soap. Place this under a night light and when you wake up in the morning a large amount of fleas will have drown.
3) Wash the pet in Dawn dish soap. I know some people swear that this doesn't work, but in my experience the dawn will help disolve the oily "glue" that keeps the eggs attached to the pet's hair and they will fall out.
